The Lagos State Parastatals Monitoring Office (PMO) has enjoined the Managing Directors, General Managers and Executive Secretaries of Parastatals/Agencies and other Government-owned organisations in the State to embrace collaboration and teamwork in implementing government policies and programmes to achieve better results.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Parastatals Monitoring, Mr. Afolabi Ayantayo, gave the advice at a workshop with the theme “Power of Synergy: The Ideals of Lagos State Government”, organised by PMO for the Heads of Parastatals, expressing the need to collaborate for enhanced performance and achievement of better results in their various areas of operations.

In his words: “Synergy is key to maximum performance and better results than individual efforts, as it promotes strength, unity, easy and timely attainment of targets and quick resolution of challenges. It will also fasten the State Government efforts to provide basic social amenities and infrastructure for residents in the State”.

Ayantayo, however, cautioned that teamwork does not mean giving up individual responsibilities but rather embracing cooperation and partnership that would enable all involved to achieve more rather than their individual efforts.

Earlier in her welcome address, the Permanent Secretary, Pharm. (Mrs.) Toyin Oke-Osanyintolu, said that it is essential for MDAs to work together, through effective collaboration, to help achieve the goals of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s administration.

According to her, Parastatals, Agencies and other government-owned companies are considered drivers of government programmes and policies through effective planning and implementation, saying: “In achieving the T.H.E.M.E.S development agenda of the present administration, it is important that all MDAs work together through effective collaboration and not in isolation”.

A facilitator and Lagos State Chief Resilience Officer, Dr. Folayinka Dania, said synergy would go a long way in reducing the cost of operations, enhancing the exchange of best practices and reducing overlapping in carrying out assignments and functions.
