Contrary to claims in a popular website and on the social media, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo was not involved in an accident on Airport road Abuja on Monday morning.

Laolu Akande, the spokesperson to the Vice President said this in an obvious reaction to some videos circulating online that Osinbajo was involved an accident in which his vehicle somersaulted at Abuja Airport road on his way to Ondo State to condole with the victim of yesterday’s terror attack in a Catholic Church in Owo.

A popular website had written a report based on the video to indicate that the Vice President was involved in a ghastly incident.

But while dismissing the claim, Akande said on his verified twitter handle that rather than being involved in an accident, Osinbajo had stopped his convoy to help an accident victim on his way to Ondo State.

He added that VP’s medical and security teams had quickly intervened to remove the victim from the crushed car which somersaulted on the opposite side of the road and got stuck on a tree.

According to Akande, the victim was moved to an hospital.

The media aide backed up his claims with photographs taken at the scene of the accident.

Akande tweets read, “On his way to the airport this morning, VP came across a road traffic accident, stopped to lend assistance, & ensured victim was taken to the hospital with VP’s convoy ambulance. He then proceeded on his trip and is now in Ondo State heading to site of yesterday’s attack in Owo.

Also, the Chairman of PYO Media Council, Richard Akinnola dismissed the claim that the Vice President was involved in an accident in a short statement.

Akinola said, “This is to notify the general public that Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and the leading APC presidential aspirant, was not involved in any accident this morning.

“Vice President Osinbajo was on his way to Owo, Ondo state over the dastardly terrorist attack of yesterday when his convoy met an accident scene on airport road, Abuja.

“He immediately stopped his convoy and asked his ambulance to take the victims to the hospital and report to him on the state of the accident victims. He immediately proceeded to board his flight to Akure.

“His media office would issue a comprehensive statement very soon.
