Oriade Council Chairman gives 200 widows financial support

Widows in Oriade Local Council Development Area have been urged to give their children good upbringing and adequate care,as this will enable the children to take care of their parents during old age and be useful to themselves and the society.

The Executive Chairman of Oriade Local Council Development Area,Hon Ramotalai Akinlola Hassan gave the urge on Thursday,21st October,2021,at the council secretariat, during the disbursement of #20,000 naira to each of the  200 widows as financial empowerment, under her administration’s Widows Support Programme.

The council chairman pointed out to the widows that, their children are their pillar of support during their old age and as parents, they should nurture them very well,by giving them good education,proper home training and spiritual knowledge.

She reminded the widows that not all children will have flair for western education,adding that such children should be engaged in Skills Acquisition Programmes to secure their future.

The elated chairman told the joyous widows that being single parents as widows is not easy, because they are shouldering the responsibility of two people.

She said,” I am happy today because I have the opportunity to put smiles on your faces,I know how it feels to be a widow, because I was once in your shoes and I know it is not easy to carry the load of parenting alone without your husbands”.

Hon Ramotalai continued,” in this regard,I urge you to make judicious use of the token cash we are giving you, and I promise that our administration will make it a regular exercise, to ensure you live a meaningful life.

The council chairman who is popularly called “Yeye” informed the widows that the financial and other benefits they are enjoying from her administration were made possible by the former Governor of Lagos State and National Leader of All Progressive Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, through his ingenuity and bravery of creation of additional 37 councils in the state in 2003.

Hon Ramotalai submitted that Tinubu is a productive leader and politician, and as such he deserves the support of all Nigerians in his quest to become the next democratically elected president of Nigeria in 2023.She appealed to all the widows and other residents of Oriade LCDA to give their total support to Asiwaju For President Agenda.

To show how happy they are with Hon Ramotalai,the widows who were clad in colorful Ankara attires and beautiful head gear(Gele) interjected her speech with songs of praise and joy with beautiful dance steps, inside the council hall, the venue of the programme.

Earlier in his welcome address, the council’s Head of Administration,Engr Akitoye Babatunde Semiu commended Hon Ramotalai for her large heart and love towards the widows and other categories of citizens in Oriade LCDA.

He urged the widows to take good care of their health, reminding them about the popular adage,”Health is Wealth”.

He told them to eat balance diet and also carry out regular medical check up, to enable them live long.

Expressing appreciation on behalf of the widows, the President of  Widows Association of Nigeria, Oriade LCDA Chapter,Alhaja  Risikat Raji prayed for Hon Ramotalai to continue to succeed in all her endeavours in life.She informed her that all the widows in the council will forever be grateful to her for all the numerous support she has rendered to them.

The highpoint of the ceremony was the disbursement of the cash gift to each of the 200 widows.

Among dignitaries who graced the event are, the Leader of the council’s Legislative Arm, Councillor Shittu Jamiu Jimoh, the Deputy Leader, Councillor Balogun Rafiat Oluwatosin and the other five councillors, and members of the Council Management Team.
