Troops of the Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), have intensified efforts to degrade terrorist networks, sustaining momentum from recent successful defensive operations in Pulka and Madara-Girau with a series of targeted logistics strangulation missions across the theatre.

The operations are aimed at crippling terrorist supply chains, restricting freedom of movement, and dismantling financing structures sustaining insurgent activities in the North East.

On February 16, 2026, troops of Sector 1, working in close coordination with Vigilante Forces, conducted a well-planned night ambush along a known crossing route frequently used by ISWAP elements infiltrating from the Cameroon axis into Nigeria. The insurgents reportedly ran into effective enfilade fire from concealed troop positions and were forced to retreat in disarray.

A subsequent exploitation of the area led to the recovery of a significant cache of logistics supplies believed to have been intended for terrorist resupply operations. Military sources said the interception has dealt a considerable blow to the terrorists’ operational sustainment capacity in the area. Troops have since maintained dominance of the general area and are conducting follow-up clearance operations.

In a related development, personnel at the Forward Operating Base, Chabbal Checkpoint, intercepted a suspicious vehicle conveying five occupants. A thorough search uncovered approximately ₦37 million concealed in bags, alongside several mobile phones suspected to be linked to terrorist financing and coordination activities.

Military authorities described the interception as a major breakthrough in ongoing efforts to dismantle financial channels supporting terrorist logistics and operations within the theatre.

The coordinated actions reflect OPHK’s strategy of simultaneously targeting insurgents’ physical movement corridors and financial enablers, tightening pressure on supply routes and support networks to limit their capacity to regenerate combat strength.

The Military High Command commended the vigilance, professionalism, and resilience of the troops and collaborating security agencies, noting that morale and operational efficiency remain high.

Operation HADIN KAI reaffirmed its commitment to frustrating terrorist ambitions and restoring lasting peace and economic stability across the North East region.
