The New Telegraph Awards Night/Dinner is a flagship annual ceremony that celebrates excellence across various sectors and is expected to attract state governors, captains of industry, executives in banking and financial institutions, public and private sector leaders, as well as sports personalities. Nine state governors from different parts of the country have already confirmed their attendance, while other award recipients have expressed enthusiasm ahead of the event.
In a letter conveying the choice of the Ooni of Ife as Royal Father of the Day, the management of Daily Telegraph Publishing Company, publishers of New Telegraph, Saturday Telegraph and Sunday Telegraph, stated that the decision was informed by the monarch’s commitment to excellence, integrity and service to humanity during his over 10-year reign.
The letter described Oba Ogunwusi as not only the paramount ruler of one of Nigeria’s largest and most homogenous ethnic nationalities, but also a symbol of leadership rooted in public good, honesty and excellence. The letter was personally delivered to the monarch by the Managing Director and Editor-in-Chief of the newspaper, Mr. Ayodele Aminu.
Similarly, Aremo Osoba, a former Editor-in-Chief of the Daily Times and Grand Patron of the Nigerian Guild of Editors, was selected as Chairman of the occasion in recognition of his enduring commitment to journalism despite his distinguished political career.
