Onigbongbo LCDA, Legal Aid Council Launch Free Legal Services for Indigent Residents

As part of efforts to expand access to justice and support vulnerable groups, the Onigbongbo Local Council Development Area has partnered with the Legal Aid Council of Nigeria to provide free legal services for indigent residents within the community.

The initiative, according to the Council, is designed to offer legal representation, counselling, and expert guidance to residents who are unable to afford professional legal assistance.

The programme forms part of activities marking the 2025 United Nations 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, themed “End Digital Violence Against Women and Girls.”

A Free Legal Aid Clinic and Sensitisation Programme will hold as follows:

Date: Tuesday, December 9, 2025

Time: 10:00 a.m.

Venue: Onigbongbo LCDA Secretariat Hall, Ikeja, Lagos.

Residents will receive free legal counselling and information on gender-based violence, including emerging concerns around online harassment and digital abuse. The Council emphasised that the programme aims to empower citizens with knowledge of their rights and pathways to justice.

“No one should suffer in silence. Every resident deserves access to justice and protection under the law,” the statement read.

The announcement was signed by Fashina Olaoluwa, on behalf of Hon. Moyosore Adebanjo, Executive Chairman, Onigbongbo LCDA.
