Omititun Food Relief: Ikeja Vice Chairman Distributes Food Items to Residents 

The Executive Vice Chairman of Ikeja Local Government, Hon. Abisola Omisore, has distributed food items to residents of the council area under the Omititun Food Relief initiative, as part of efforts to cushion the effects of rising food prices on households

The distribution, which took place on Sunday January 11, 2026, at Sunday Adigun Street off Kadiri Street, Alausa, marked the second major outreach by the Vice Chairman within a month. Hundreds of families benefited from the exercise, receiving essential food items including rice, groundnut oil, sugar and salt.

The programme was carried out in partnership with MIHO Inspection System Nigeria Limited and attracted the presence of several political and community leaders.

Among those in attendance were the Councillor representing Ward F, Hon. Ganiu Lawal, the Majority Leader of the Ikeja Legislative Council; the Chairman Alausa Community Development Association, CDA, Comrade Foster Animashaun; Executive Officers of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Ikeja Local Government, Alhaji Lateef Ajenifuja and Mr. Segun Aderowo, as well as other party stakeholders.

Speaking during the exercise, Hon. Omisore said the initiative was aimed at easing the burden on residents in view of the high cost of foodstuffs and supporting the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu

He explained that the initiative was a fulfilment of his commitment to serve and give back to the people, in line with the promises made during the electioneering campaign, under the people-focused leadership of the Executive Chairman, Comrade Akeem Olamilekan Dauda (AKOD).

According to him, the welfare of residents remains a priority for the current administration, adding that initiatives such as the food relief programme are designed to provide immediate support to vulnerable households.

Many of the beneficiaries expressed appreciation to the Vice Chairman for the timely intervention and offered prayers for divine guidance and strength as he continues to contribute to the development of Ikeja.

It was emphasised that the distribution was conducted without discrimination, as beneficiaries were selected irrespective of political affiliation, tribe or religion.
