The Super Falcons of Nigeria are on the verge of crashing out of Olympics Women football as they lost 0-1 to Spain in Paris, France on Sunday.

The Nigerian side had earlier crashed 0-1 to Brazil in their opening match on 25 July, 2024.

They must now beat Japan by at least 3-0 to stand a chance of qualifying for the quarter-final.

The Falcons were almost forcing the Spanish side to a goalless draw when they scored the only goal of the match in the 85th minute.

Alexia Putellas, 30, who plies her trade in Barcelona scored the only goal of the match.

Spain dominated possessions with 63 percent with Nigeria’s 33 percent. The Spanish Women churned out 24 goal attempts with the Falcons having only four goal attempts.

Spain recorded seven shots on target with the Falcons recording two shots on target.
