Olorunda LCDA Holds 2022 Budget Stakeholders Forum

The Annual Budget Stakeholders Forum, with this year’s edition themed Maximizing Local Government Budget in the face of Pandemic was held today, Tuesday 21st December, 2021 at the Council Secretariat, Iworo, Lagos.

The Annual Budget Stakeholders Forum, with this year’s edition themed Maximizing Local Government Budget in the face of Pandemic was held today, Tuesday 21st December, 2021 at the Council Secretariat, Iworo, Lagos.

While delivering the opening speech, the Council Mayor, Hon. Samson Folorunso Olatunde appraised the achievement of his administration during his first tenure.

In his words, “I am indeed, highly overwhelmed with joy to state some of the achievements during the first tenure of this administration; We embarked on aggressive infrastructural and developmental projects which cuts across every nooks and crannies of Olorunda Local Council Development Area. Most of these projects were completed and delivered for the use of the people and it has yielded positive impacts on their lives”

The Council Mayor further noted that the outbreak of Corona virus, which currently assumes a different name “Omicron virus” has served as the strongest impediment on generating substantial revenue to fund capital budget of the Council and that maximizing revenue and optimizing expenditure in order to provide more dividends of democracy to the good people of Olorunda LCDA is presenting a great challenge to his administration.

He also noted that his administration values progressive inputs and contributions, as a result, today’s convergence informs the engagement of all stakeholders in a consultative forum. “I am delighted to inform you that the performance of this year’s budget was brilliant enough but we hope to improve on the performance in the year 2022 budget and believe that your input at this stakeholders meeting will go a long way in helping our administration to achieve results and better performance in year 2022.”

In conclusion, the Council Mayor sounded a very loud note of appeal to every resident in Olorunda LCDA to pay every levy required by the Council. He also appealed to everyone that they should take the COVID-19 Vaccine and observe all protocols to guard against the wider spread of the deadly virus.

In a brief address by the leader of the legislative arm, Hon. Ariwayo Christian, he reiterated that there are extant laws that have been promulgated by the legislative arm of the Council and that these laws cut across every aspect of operations in the Council; Environment,Trade and commerce, Education and other human endeavors.

He further noted that these laws are in place to deal with any form of deviance and irregularity.

He thereby appealed for full compliance of provided laws in the LCDA. He called for the possession of bye-laws promulgated  by the legislative arm as they are on  record for acquittance and comprehension.

The forum proceeded into an interactive session where questions were met with desirable and satisfactory responses.

The forum came to a close with an appreciation remark from the Head of department, Budget, Mr. Olubiyi Abdulwaheed.

Also in attendance at today’s forum were;The Chairperson and wife of the Executive Chairman, Mrs. Oluwakemi Abimbola Olatunde, members of the legislative arm, Political Leaders in the LCDA; High Chief Olatunde Joseph, Onisalu Afobaje of Ilogbo-Eremi kingdom, Alhaji Abu Akilapa, Alhaji Tijani, various Traditional leaders and political leaders, CDC members, religious leaders and members of the public.
