The Ojodu Local Council Development Area (LCDA) under the leadership of Engineer Olumuyiwa Julius Oloro has commissioned the 5 storey Abibatu Mogaji Multipurpose Shopping Complex on Tuesday at the Ogba area, Ojodu- Ikeja, Lagos State.
The National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu who was represented by the APC Southwest Women Leader, Chief Mrs Kemi Nelson congratulated the Chairman for the completion of the complex.
While delivering the keynote address, she congratulated the council chairman, Management team and Staff for achieving such a great feat.
Chief Nelson also commended the councilors for supporting the chairman to achieve the completion of the ultramodern shopping complex named after Asiwaju Tinubu’s mother and the first Iyaloja General of Nigeria, Alhaja Abibatu Mogaji.
She however charged the council chairman and the private partner Eliezer Investments Limited on the need to give the structure adequate maintenance.
The Council Chairman in his opening remark used the occasion to enumerate some of the council’s activities in the last three years of his second term administration. This included the about to be commissioned Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu office complex.
Hon Oloro stated that “the local government as the third tier of government has great role in the socio economic development of the nation, particularly the rural areas, therefore the inception of a new herald of this administration should be the catalyst of the people’s development and aspiration”.
“To buttress the promises we made when elected in office, as the Executive Chairman of this prestigious LCDA. Creating a greater community in which no one will be left behind in our decisions inclusive administration. The desire for infrastructure development was uttermost to my administration, especially the market which drove me seek public-private sector partnership input”.
He noted that “the megacity agenda of Lagos State was a catalyst for infrastructure growth and development across the length and breadth of Lagos State, this trend continued with successive administration in the state”.
While speaking with Lagos Panorama the council helmsman stated that “we had an open bid for interested organization to submit their bids. Eliezer Investments Limited won the competitive bid which was duly supervised by the local council Tender’s Board and Ogba retail market representatives”.
“Before the development, Ogba retail market was in a dilapidated state due to fallen structure. We are the first in Lagos State to successfully relocate a market, to pave way for redevelopment and bring the entire marker back upon completion of the development”.
“Those not willing to move to the relocation site were duly compensated. Thereafter the official Ground Breaking was done on Tuesday 31ST October 2017”.
“Reconstructing of roads, healthcare centers and drainages are normal expected role performance of the council so you can’t ascribed that as an achievement but an edifice like this and the new office complex will speak for us longtime to come” he concluded.
The pioneer Chairman of Ojodu LCDA and member representing Ikeja Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon James Faleke who was also at the event noted that “I am not surprised by this achievement. Hon Oloro was my Vice Chairman, he has zeal to deliver”.
“Immediately I won the party’s primary I had to handover the administration of the local government to him because of his passion to deliver. I supported this initiative when he told me about it. So I congratulate him and his team for this achievement” asserted the third term MHR.
Hon Adedamola Richard Kasunmu grandson of Alhaja Mogaji and also member representing the Ikeja Constituency 2 in the Lagos State House of Assembly congratulates the Chairman and his management team.
Hon Kasunmu in his goodwill message stated that “congratulations to the good people of Ojodu LCDA on the Official Commissioning of Abibatu Mogaji Multipurpose Shopping Complex, formerly known as Ogba Retail market”.
“Kudos to Ojodu LCDA’s Executive Chairman Engr Oloro and his team as well as the Developer and all the partnering organisations for making this edifice a reality for the benefit of our people. Many thanks also for naming it after our late Matriarch. God bless” concluded the Chairman House Committee on Lands.
The Iyaloja General, Chief Mrs. Folashade Tinubu-Ojo also reiterated the need for adequate maintenance of the complex.
She averred that “the council have to maintain the edifice because it’s the only way the legacy can last for coming generation to benefit from”.
