Olarinoye Adijat wins Nigeria’s first gold medal at Commonwealth Games

Nigeria has won its first gold medal at the ongoing 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.

Nigeria has won its first gold medal at the ongoing 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.

Weightlifter Olarinoye Adenike Adijat recorded this historic feat on Saturday evening.

Adijat won with a combined lift of 203 GR (92 GR + 111) in the Weightlifting category – Women’s 55 kg.

Bindyarani Sorokhaibam got silver with a lift of 202 kg (86 + 116 GR) while Fraer Morrow of England got bronze after she lifted 198 kg (89 + 109).
