Oko-Baba Sawmillers Applaud Lagos Commitment to relocation plan

On the planned relocation of Oko-Baba Sawmill to a permanent site, Timberville, Agbowa-Ikosi, members of the Lagos Mainland Sawmillers Association have praised the Lagos State Government for its efforts in bringing the relocation to fruition.

The President of the Association, Alhaji Abdul-Ganiu Onikeku, who spoke during a progress review meeting held with the Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Engr. Tayo Bamgbose-Martins in Alausa on Friday commended the Administration of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for reviving the project which had been on for about a decade.

He expressed his gratitude to the Governor and management of the Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development for working and serving the cause diligently while showing his satisfaction with the way the Ministry is keeping faith with the relocation plan, especially the allocation of sheds and housing units to the Sawmillers.

The Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Engr. Tayo Bamgbose-Martins said that Government would not relent in its efforts in ensuring a successful relocation of the sawmilling activities from its present location in Ebute-Metta, Lagos Mainland to Timberville, Agbowa until a successful outcome of engendering efficient and sustainable land use at both ends was achieved in line with the relocation plan.

He urged members of the association to keep their side of the bargain by mobilising their members for the planned movement.

Also present at the meeting were the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development, Engr. Oluwole Sotire and the Secretary, Lagos Mainland Sawmillers Association, Titus Ikuyamoye.
