Ojodu, Lagos — The Executive Chairman of Ojodu Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. David Olusegun Odunmbaku, on Monday presented an extensive report of his administration’s achievements as he marked 100 days in office following the renewal of his mandate for a second term.
Infrastructure Renewal Gains Momentum
The Chairman highlighted notable infrastructural strides achieved within the first 100 days of his second term, including:
Rehabilitation and grading of inner roads
Construction and completion of major drainage systems
Ongoing modernization of the council secretariat and commencement of an ultramodern office complex
Construction of a new marriage registry and customary court
Reconstruction of the council gatehouse for multi-agency operations, including an NDLEA office
Road upgrades on Adesina/Adeniyi Oke Street, Yusuf Street, Odunmbaku Street, Bakare Street, and other corridors
“These projects mark the beginning of our accelerated development blueprint,” Odunmbaku said.
Healthcare Interventions Reach Thousands
One of the LCDA’s largest medical missions, executed in partnership with Eko Club Atlanta, featured:
Thousands of screenings, dental checks, cancer and malaria tests, and specialist reviews
Over 600 successful minor surgeries
Ongoing upgrades of Powerline PHC, Akiode PHC, and Gbadamosi PHC
Launch of electronic birth registration
Health insurance support for 500 residents through LASHMA
Environmental health campaigns
Facilitation of the SDG Mini General Hospital
Education & Youth Development: Preparing a Future-Ready Generation
The administration’s achievements in the education and youth sector include:
Distribution of learning materials to public primary schools
₦1.5 million empowerment for teachers under the 5th Teachers Support Scheme
Free GCE forms and tutorial support for students
Technology Capacity Kits (TCK) training for over 500 primary school pupils
ICT training for 40 youths, HTA training for 10, and soilless farming training for 10
Certification of 150 youths through the ICITP Programme
Launch of mentorship and career development clinics
CNG conversion training
“We are equipping our youths with skills to thrive in the digital economy,” he said.
Economic Empowerment and Social Inclusion
Key empowerment interventions include:
Tools, equipment, and starter packs for artisans and small businesses
₦100,000 cash support and business tools for nano-traders and market women
Expansion of the THRIVE zero-interest microfinance scheme
Mobility aids for Persons With Disabilities
Food palliatives to support vulnerable families
During the event, the council also unveiled:
40 laptops for graduates of the Digital Skills Programme
The OjoduWorks App, developed by the LCDA’s ICT unit
Fuel vouchers for Keke, Korope, and bus operators
Distribution of 500 health diaries and 150 reading glasses
Beneficiaries who spoke with Lagos Panorama Correspondent at the event expressed deep appreciation to the Chairman, applauding the life-improving initiatives. Many prayed for continued blessings upon him and his household.
Community Development Strengthened
To promote community resilience and cultural preservation, the LCDA executed:
Solar-powered boreholes across communities
Expansion of drainage systems
Renovation of palaces, community centers, traditional shrines, and cultural festival spaces
Looking Ahead: A People-Centered Acceleration Plan
Odunmbaku outlined the administration’s next-phase priorities, including:
Full modernization of all Primary Health Centres
Expanded SME credit access
Broader youth digital training and certifications
Aggressive road and drainage construction
Expansion of soilless farming clusters for the AFAM community
Provision of school uniforms
Solarization of public schools
Consolidation of youth enterprise models
Full rollout of the HEYS Reloaded agenda
Appreciation
The Chairman expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, party leaders, GAC members, community stakeholders, council staff, and the people of Ojodu LCDA.
He offered special gratitude to Rt. Hon. James Abiodun Faleke, Member representing Ikeja Federal Constituency, for his unwavering support.
He also paid glowing tribute to Cardinal James Odunmbaku, his father, describing him as “a pillar of guidance, mentorship, and strength.”
“In Ojodu LCDA, we do not govern for the people—we govern with the people,” he concluded.
