Ogun govt promises to open up Lisa village as tourist site, boost tourism in the state

The President of the Community Media Practitioners Association of Nigeria (COMPASS) Tayo Aderinola presenting a Playbook titled IYALOJA he authored on the life and time of the pioneer Iyaloja General of Nigeria Late Alhaja Abibatu Mogaji to the Honourable Commissioner for Arts, Culture and Tourism Ogun State Dr Toyin Taiwo.

As parts of Dr. Dapo Abiodun agenda for rapid and viable economic growth and development of the state, the government of Ogun state has promised to put up a formidable structures on the ground in order to open-up Lisa village which will go a long way in boosting tourism in the state.

Briefing Community Media Practitioners Association of Nigeria (COMPASS) in Abeokuta, the state capital during a courtesy visit by the group on Wednesday 12th February, 2020 in his office, the Ogun State Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Hon. Dr. Toyin Taiwo reiterated Dr Dapo Abiodun led administration’s commitment towards preserving and promoting the cultural heritage of the people of Ogun state.

“There’s no doubt about the fact that Ogun state is endowed with a lots of tourist sites and thank God for the passion the state governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has for our culture as he’s ready to do the needful to ensure our cultural heritage is not only preserved but as well showcase to outside world”.

“Be rest assured that we”re going tap into all the untapped, sustain and maintain the sites/monuments in the state which will invariably enhance the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) and Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of not only the state but Nigeria as a whole”.

“Ogun state is well blessed among all other states and we’re ready to tap into what’s being given to us and create an enabling environment for advise and partnership so that we can take Ogun state according to the visions of the ministry, place Ogun state on the world map”. he stated

“Not only that, we’re ready to partner with individual(s) and private organisations who are ready to propagate with us our indigenous cultural heritage”.

Dr. Taiwo noted that Adire for instance, originated from Ogun state where he said a lot needs to be done to rebrand it so that at the end of the day, Adire will remain the indigenous trademark of Ogun state.

“Other people who are into Adire business/production learnt that trade from us but the brand is originally from Ogun state and we’re really proud to be the originator of the brand”.

The President of COMPASS, Tayo Aderinola in his remark however, thanked the Hon. Dr Toyin Taiwo for hosting and agreeing to partner with the Community Media Practitioners Association (COMPASS) of Nigeria in promoting the activities of the ministry when and where necessary while an autographed book titled “Iyaloja” was presented to the commissioner and governor Dapo Abiodun by the leader of the delegation.

Ogun state is home to some of the most beautiful sites in West Africa. From fun places in Abeokuta, to interesting places in Ijebu. Ogun state has a lot of must-see places with its fascinating history and deep cultural roots. The most famous tourist attraction in Ogun state is Olumo Rock.
