Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals FZE has released a statement firmly denying the institution of new legal action against NNPC, Matrix Petroleum Services, and other concerned parties regarding the granting of import licenses for petroleum products.
Clarification was provided after recent reports emerged suggesting the Refinery had initiated legal action to invalidate import licenses issued to the NNPC and other organizations.
In a press release on Monday, Anthony Chiejina, Dangote Refinery’s Group Chief Branding and Communications Officer, addressed the ongoing lawsuit, stating that court processes have not been served and there is no intention to do so.
The September 2024 lawsuit challenged import licenses issued to several companies, including NNPCL and Matrix Petroleum Services Limited. However, recent discussions have led to a pause in legal action.
The company cited significant progress following President Bola Tinubu’s directive on crude oil sales in naira, approved by the Federal Executive Council.
Chiejina confirmed that no adverse effects have occurred and the matter will be formally withdrawn in January 2025.
