Lagos, Nigeria — The Oba of Lagos, His Royal Majesty, Oba Riliwanu Babatunde Akiolu, has expressed confidence that Nigeria will overcome its current challenges and emerge stronger under the present administration.

He emphasized that every Nigerian, regardless of their tribe or socio-economic status, must contribute their share toward the nation’s development.

Oba Akiolu made the remarks on Friday during the installation of six new Lagos White Cap Chiefs at his palace in Iga Iduganran, Lagos Island. The event was attended by a large gathering of dignitaries, family members, and residents of Lagos Island, who celebrated the rich cultural heritage of the region in a carnival-like atmosphere outside the palace.

In his address, the Oba urged Nigerians to prioritize the country’s collective interest over personal gains. “The progress of Lagos and Nigeria depends on the efforts of all of us,” he said, stressing that unity and selflessness were key to national growth.

The newly installed White Cap Chiefs, who are respected leaders within the community, include Architect Gbolahan Oki, now titled Ogboni Iduntafa of Lagos, Chief Ajibade Nosiru-Ayeni as Eletu Odibo of Lagos, and Chief Adebola Olalekan Dosunmu as Olorogun Adodo of Lagos. Other distinguished honorees include Chief Yusuf Jinadu Bajulu as Bajulu of Lagos, Chief Razak Onimole as Onimole of Lagos, and Chief Lookman Oluwa as Onisemo of Lagos.

The Oba’s call for national unity comes at a time when the nation is grappling with several socio-political and economic challenges. However, he remains optimistic that the future is promising if all Nigerians rally behind the administration’s vision for progress.
