The Nigeria Police Force has confirmed the transfer of fugitive suspect Victor Benjamin Fejemirokun from Ghanaian authorities, following his arrest in Accra after weeks on the run. Fejemirokun is alleged to be responsible for the abduction and suspected murder of a senior Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) officer and her young daughter in Osun State.
According to a statement from Force Headquarters, the handover was facilitated by the INTERPOL National Central Bureau (NCB), Abuja, after the Ghana Police Service apprehended the suspect based on credible intelligence regarding his hideout.
Officials of INTERPOL NCB Abuja immediately travelled to Accra to complete the transfer process, paving the way for further investigation in Nigeria.
Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, PhD., NPM, extended his condolences to the bereaved family and assured the public that the case would be diligently pursued to ensure justice. He also commended the Ghana Police Service for their swift action and cooperation throughout the joint operation.
The Nigeria Police reiterated its commitment to safeguarding citizens, tracking down offenders across borders, and deepening international security collaborations to tackle transnational crime.
