President says reforms yielding results, urges faith in brighter future

Abuja — President Bola Ahmed Tinubu  assured Nigerians that the nation has “turned the corner” and entered a new phase of recovery and stability, as he marked the country’s 65th Independence Anniversary in a nationwide broadcast.

Tinubu said his administration’s tough reforms — fuel subsidy removal, FX unification, and fiscal discipline — have begun to bear fruit, with GDP growth hitting 4.23%, inflation dropping to 20.12%, foreign reserves rising to $42bn, and oil production rebounding to 1.68m barrels per day.

“We chose the path of tomorrow over the comfort of today. Yesterday’s pains are giving way to relief,” he said.

The President praised the armed forces for “winning the war” against insurgency and banditry, celebrated the resilience of Nigerians, and promised continued investment in youth empowerment through student loans, credit schemes, and the iDICE innovation fund.

Calling for renewed patriotism, Tinubu urged Nigerians to “farm our land, build our factories, patronise Made-in-Nigeria goods, and pay our taxes.”

“With Almighty God on our side,” he declared, “the dawn of a new, prosperous, self-reliant Nigeria is here.”
