Born on August 8th, 1968, in Plateau State, North Central Nigeria, Prof. Yilwatda is a multifaceted individual serving as a politician, academic, and engineer, and President Tinubu’s Minister for Humanitarian, Disaster Management, and Social Development.

Yilwatda served as Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management until his emergence as APC national chairman during Thursday’s NEC meeting.

He took over the ministerial role in October 2024 following Betta Edu’s suspension over financial irregularities.

Previously, Yilwatda was the APC gubernatorial flagbearer in Plateau State for the 2023 election.

He held the position of Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Benue State from July 2017 to December 2021.

Additionally, he spent 12 years as the Director of ICT at the Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi.
