As part of measures to free all choked canals in Agboyi-Ketu LCDA,geared towards ensuring free flow of water during the upcoming monsoon season and prevent water stagnation in low-lying areas, Agboyi-Ketu LCDA will on Wednesday begin emergency desilting of blocked drainages.
To ensure a successful exercise, the LCDA has drawn up a holistic clearing programme to desilt two major channels as a strategic move to prepare against the prediction of the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NIMET) on the expectation of above normal rainfall season this year.
The blocked canals to be worked on are two channels, firstly, the channel passing through Church Street, Agboyi Road,Ajibola Street and Goodluck Street.
While the second channel will witness the dredging and desilting of blocked channel from Elebiju to Akinyemi.
The exercise will involve the usage of earth-moving heavy equipment.
