The Executive Chairman Ikeja Local Government Council Dr Mojeed Alabi Balogun on Monday presented a budget of two billion, three-hundred and thirty-eight million, nine-hundred and thirty-eight thousand, eight hundred and eighty naira, sixty-seven kobo (N2, 338, 938, 880. 67K) to the Ikeja Legislative Council at the Ikeja Legislative chamber.
The chairman in his presentation speech themed the 2020 budget as ‘Towards Sustainable Development’ with the expected sources to execute the budget through; Federal Allocation N1.8B. Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) N185,525,000. Other expected source to include Consolidated Revenue Collection N200, 500, 000 from LASSA, Land Use and other CRC administered by the State government.
Balogun summarized the budgeted expenditures as personnel staff N549, 505, 479.48k, primary schools teachers’ salary 247, 336, 777.75k, overhead cost was estimated to be 828, 235, 269.38k. Other expected expenditures include statutory deduction 159, 390, 689.39k, outstanding N76, 946, 672.67k. Others include Social Service Expenditure N74, 000, 000 and Capital Projects was estimated for N408, 500, 000.
The council boss also made a review of the 2019 budget as achieved 99.8% in Works and Housing, 99.9% in Environmental service, 90.3% in Primary Healthcare and 97.85% in Education.
The Lagos Panorama SDG Grassroots awardee Balogun in a brief interview with Lagos Panorama stated that “I want to seek the indulgence of this house to do the required justice, because we have a lot to execute this year. I pray and hope the budget will be giving a speedy consideration” he concluded.
The Leader of the Ikeja Legislative Council Hon Adetoro Adebowale thanked his colleagues for their supports thus far and urged them to do the needful to accelerate the passage of the budget for the executive to achieve and execute sustainable development projects to the benefits of the people and residents of Ikeja.
Adebowale also noted that “we the legislatures and executives have a common aim of development and wellbeing of Ikeja taxpayers”.
“To this end, we have enacted eight byelaws to aid the wellbeing of our people and we are unveiling the byelaws today” the grassroots lawmaker averred.

Byelaw for the regulation of Markets within Ikeja
Byelaw for the regulation of One-way drive within Ikeja
Byelaw for the regulation of Street parking within Ikeja
Byelaw for the regulation of Merriment and Entertainment within Ikeja
Byelaw for the regulation of Street Naming within Ikeja
Byelaw for the regulation on Trade License within Ikeja
Byelaw for the regulation of the Radio and Television within Ikeja
Byelaw for the regulation of Environmental Sanitation within Ikeja
