

Lagos Panorama recently reports the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) has confirmed 24th of July 2021 for the conduct of the Lagos State Local Government Elections for Chairman, Vice Chairman and Councillors in the 20 Local Government Councils and 37 LCDAs, as aspirants gears up for the council elections, the Nigerian Institute of Journalism (NIJ) playground, Ogba, was filled to capacity by members and leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Ojodu LCDA as the current Supervisory Councillor for Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation (WAPA), Hon Kafayat Funmilayo Layeni officially declared her aspiration for the Chairmanship position of the LCDA on Saturday.

Hon Layeni at the declaration assured residents of Ojodu LCDA of open-door policy, where everyone will have sense of belonging, she said “I assured you an all inclusive government” she assured party faithful at declaration.



The erstwhile Ward Chairman and Women Leader also promised to key into the Lagos State Governor’s THEMES agenda to promote sustainable development at the grassroots.


The Member House of Representatives for Ikeja Federal Constituency, Hon James Abiodun Faleke in his own remark at the official declaration of the Chairmanship aspiration of Hon (Princess) Funmilayo Layeni noted that his decision to support her aspiration was premised on the fact that, “she is a team player, a loyal and committed progressive democrat, an highly experienced politician with integrity, a mother who as a wisdom singlehandedly raised up all her six children up to university level and are all doing very well in their various field/profession” Hon Faleke averred.

He further stated that “She is a goal getter, humble, kind hearted and a good administrator at the grassroot level of governance based on her experience in the past and present positions held in the local government” the rep member concluded.

Also in attendance at the event were the Lagos State House of Assembly Member representing Ikeja Constituency II Hon Adedamola Richard Kasunmu, ward Chairmen, women leaders and other major stakeholders in the APC Ojodu LCDA.

Justice Ayotunde Philips, has advocated for inclusivity mechanisms for women, youths, Persons with Disabilities and other vulnerable population in the political parties’ activities and processes, so that the democratic space could be further widened.
