Many trapped as 3-storey building collapses in Ebute Metta, Lagos

Many residents are feared to be trapped in a building which collapsed in the Ebute Metta area of Lagos State on Friday.

Lagos Panorama gathered that men of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, (LASEMA) arrived at the scene within fifteen minutes.

This was confirmed by the Chief Press Secretary to Governor of Lagos State, Gboyega Akosile on his twitter handle.

Akosile stated that Search , Rescue And Recovery operations carried out and an adult female (approximately 30 years) has been rescued from the rubble using the agency’s DELSA equipment. Victim has been transferred to hospital.

According to other reports, the building is situated opposite the Health Centre Ebute Metta along Cemetery Street.

The 3-storey building which houses shops and residential apartments collapsed just after noon on Friday.

Many persons are said to have been trapped in the rubbles of the collapsed building.

The LASEMA officials cordoned off the area swiftly and commenced rescue operations immediately.
