Liverpool star Mohamed Salah has tested positive for Covid-19 but without suffering any symptoms, the Egyptian Football Association announced Friday.
Salah was involved with the national side for their upcoming AFCON qualification matches against Togo, on November 14 and 17 respectively.
But after squad members were made to undergo mandatory testing, Salah was revealed to have contracted COVID-19.
Medical swabs on the national team “showed that our international player, Mohamed Salah, Liverpool star, was infected with the coronavirus,” it said in a tweet, adding he was “not suffering from any symptoms”.
“Despite his test returning positive, he does not suffer from any symptoms. The other members of the team were negative.”
Salah becomes the fifth Liverpool player to test positive for coronavirus, after Thiago Alcântara, Xherdan Shaqiri, Sadio Mané and Naby Keita.
