LGSC organises two-day in-house workshop for staff

The Local Government Service Commission (LGSC) has organised a two-day in-house training for 128 staff of its workforce at the Local Government Establishment, Training and Pensions Training School located at the old Secretariat, Oba Akinjobi Road GRA Ikeja.

The Local Government Service Commission (LGSC) has organised a two-day in-house training for 128 staff of its workforce at the Local Government Establishment, Training and Pensions Training School located at the old Secretariat, Oba Akinjobi Road GRA Ikeja.


Addressing the participants, the Chairman of LGSC, Mr. Kamal Bayewu assured Officers that the Commission has resolved to empower its workforce in a bid to aid the career of all staff to enviable positions, noting that the training is part of the strategies of the present administration to motivate the workers while also catering to their welfare and capacity building.


The Chairman, represented at the event by Mr. Ahmed Seriki, the Commissioner representing Epe Division, averred the training programme with the theme: “Reskilling and Upskilling for Innovation and Greater Efficiency”, was designed for Grade Level 08-14 to also improve their knowledge and enhance their productivity for optimal service delivery.
He implored the participants to view the training programme as an opportunity to learn, unlearn and relearn, reiterating that the exercise would also ensure that the officers are at par with the dictates of the State Government and familiarise the officers with the components of the T.H.E.M.E.S Agenda of the present administration.


The Permanent Secretary of LGSC, Mr. Abiodun Bamgboye, represented by Mr. Sedeton Ogabi, Director of Recruitment, Discipline and Exit in the Commission, remarked that the training is an opportunity for all officers to improve themselves while increasing their effectiveness and efficiency on the job.


He also advised the participants to maximise the opportunity provided by the training programme and put it to productive use.


Mr. Taofeek Ajetunmobi, the Facilitator and Director, Public Affairs, Public Service Staff Development Centre (PSSDC), Magodo, lectured the participants on various topics, including “The Overview of the Public Service as an Organisation”, “The Ethics of the Public Service”, “Structure of the Public Service Communication Processes” and “Tools of the Public Service Communication” amongst others.


Mrs. Omobola Ajayi, Director of Administration and Human Resources at the LGSC, admonished the participants to ensure that they put into practice what they have learnt and let it reflect in the discharge of their respective duties.
