The League of Former Ward Chairmen has expressed profound sorrow over the passing of Alhaja Chief Abibat Ajasa, the revered Iyalaje General of Oshodi-Isolo and Erelu Wasimi, describing her death as a monumental loss to her family, Lagos State, and the Yoruba nation.
In a condolence message signed by the Chairman of the League, Comrade Tayo Aderinola, the association extended its heartfelt condolences to the Vice Chairman of Ojodu LCDA, Hon. Kafayat Funmilayo Layeni, and the entire Layeni family on the demise of their beloved mother and family matriarch.
The League described the late Alhaja Ajasa as an exceptional woman whose life was dedicated to service, compassion, wisdom, and community development, noting that her enduring legacy would continue to inspire generations.
“We share in your grief and pray that the cherished memories of her remarkable life, service, and legacy will continue to be a source of comfort and strength to the family. May Almighty Allah forgive her shortcomings, grant her Al-Jannah Firdaus, and bless the family with the fortitude, patience, and strength to bear this irreplaceable loss,” the statement read.
According to the family, Alhaja Chief Abibat Ajasa, a respected mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on Monday at the age of 86. She was laid to rest later the same day in accordance with Islamic rites.
The family described her as a pillar of strength, a builder of people, and a passionate supporter of worthy causes whose influence extended far beyond her immediate family to Oshodi-Isolo, Lagos State, and the Yoruba nation. They noted that her life exemplified love, sacrifice, wisdom, and selfless service.
While mourning her passing, the family thanked all those who have stood by them in prayers and support, praying that Almighty Allah grants her eternal rest in Al-Jannah Firdaus and comforts everyone she left behind.
