…Policy Covers Death, Disability And Medical Expenses
The Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) has perfected the insurance of sweepers under the LAWMA CEO programme with effect from Friday July 17, 2020.
A statement on Friday by LAWMA said the insurance policy for the sweepers covers among others death while in active service, permanent disability and medical expenses.
“In the past month, the Authority embarked upon a wholistic audit exercise of sweepers in the State and one important takeaway from the exercise is the need to pay premium attention to the welfare and well-being of the sweepers, who undoubtedly, are critically important as front liners in the management of waste and ensuring that Lagos and its environment remain squeaky clean.
“In the light of the above therefore, the management of LAWMA is pleased to inform members of the public that, from Friday, July 17, 2020, every member under the “LAWMA CEO” programme will be insured.
“The LAWMA management, under the able leadership of the Ag. Managing Director, Ibrahim Odumboni, has made a resolve and unequivocally so, that the primary focus and the mandate of the Authority in managing and regulation of waste will not be compromised, deploying the best global practices in achieving same, in line with the “THEMES” agenda of Mr. Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu in achieving a cleaner and healthier Environment and the general well being of Lagosians,” the statement reads in part.
