Announcing this in a statement yesterday, Director of Lagos State Operations Coordinating Unit (LASOCU) Mrs. Adijat Adedeji said the register, which opened at the weekend, would close on Wednesday.

LASOCU, under the Lagos State Ministry of Economic Planning and Budget (MEPB), is coordinating the register for the National Social Safety Nets Coordinating Office (NASSCO), to give relief to people whose source of income has been eroded by the ravaging COVID-19 pandemic.

She said: “This is calling on all barbers, electricians, vulcanisers, traders and anyone whose source of income has been destroyed by the COVID-19 pandemic to come out and enlist in the RRR register. The register is an intervention by the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development (MHADMSD), to help alleviate the impact of COVID-19 pandemic on the vulnerable groups in urban and semi-urban dwellers.”

She further explained that the targets includes urban poor and vulnerable population who are not yet supported through existing federal government’s intervention programmes, especially the non-traditional poor in urban and semi-urban high density areas and slum communities.
