The Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu has reiterated that his administration will continue to encourage youth participation and sports development to build a sane society.
Sanwo-Olu, represented by the Chairman, Lagos State Sports Commission, LSSC, Sola Aiyepeku, disclosed this in his address at the final match/closing ceremony of the 15th U-16 Inter-State Emeka Anyaoku Cup 2023 held at the Abalti Barracks, Gbajabiamila Mini-Stadium, Yaba, stressing that the State Government would not leave any stone unturned in terms of using the instrumentality of sports to develop every nook and cranny of the state.
While extolling the major sponsor for his contributions and achievements, he called on Chief Emeka Anyaoku to commit more resources to sports development.
In his remarks, the former Secretary-General of the Commonwealth and sponsor of the tournament, Chief Emeka Anyaoku lauded Governor Sanwo-Olu for being a constant supporter of the tournament and urged him to continue to initiate policies geared towards sports development across the State.
He commended all the participants at the event, noting that the standard of matches was very high, just as he applauded Olumo Football Club from Oyo State for defeating Utility Football Club from Kwara State by a 3-1 goal margin.
Also Present at the event were the Director General, Lagos State Sports Commission, Oluwatoyin Gafaar; Director of Public Affairs, LSSC, Oshodi-Eko Titilayo and a board member of LSSC, Damilare Ezekiel Orimoloye.
