LASEMA averts tragedy as Okobaba Sawmill is razed down

The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency-(LASEMA) has averted tragedy at a fire outbreak at Okobaba Sawmill, off Ibadan Street, Ebute-Metta on Tuesday 16th March, 2021.

The state agency received a distress call via its emergency toll-free line 112/767, of a fire outbreak at Okobaba Sawmill, off Ibadan Street, Ebute-Metta.

Consequent upon the arrival of the Cobra Squad at Onipanu and the Agency’s Fire Unit at Cappa, Oshodi, it was discovered that a Sawmill at the aforementioned address was gutted with fire.

The cause of the fire could not be ascertained, however, the Agency’s Team, Lagos State Fire Service, and Federal Fire Service worked jointly to curtail the fire from spreading to adjoining buildings.

Though, no loss of lives or injury recorded, properties worth fortune were destroyed by the inferno.

The prompt response of the Emergency Responders brought the fire under control and it was dampened down

Post disaster assessment carried out by the Team revealed that 70% of the coverage area of the sawmill and some chanties were gutted by the fire.
