In a bid to further reposition the Lagos State public transportation sector and unlock the potential of the Lagos State Drivers’ Institute (LASDRI), the organisation has held its annual train-the-trainer workshop with the theme: “Equipping LASDRI Workforce with Essential Tools for Effective and Efficient Service Delivery”.

Addressing participants at LASDRI’s Headquarters, Oshodi, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Transportation, Mr. Kamar Olowoshago, stated that the workshop is a paradigm shift from primordial ways of training instructors to a more acceptable practice aimed at inculcating safety consciousness and embracing modern Information Communication Technology (ICT) for improved proficiency in safe road use.

He stated that the training was designed to strategically reposition the institute through the development of its human resources to enhance road traffic and public safety in Lagos State.

In his words: “The unwavering effort of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu-led administration at having a well-equipped workforce and an excellent welfare package is worthy of commendation. Hence, I would like to enjoin you all to see the training as a golden opportunity to acquire more knowledge and skills as trainers, because it is high time that every one of us moves from a fixed mindset to a growth mindset that teaches a positive attitude, discipline and contentment”.

Olowoshago further added that the workshop would also expose the participants to skills that would help them deliver an engaging and compelling training programme to improve the service platform of the Lagos State Drivers’ Institute and continually sustain the confidence of the motoring public in the service rendered by the institute to keep Lagos moving with pride.

Earlier in her welcome address, the General Manager of LASDRI, Mrs. Afusat Tiamiyu, urged the participants to see the event as a think-tank meet to chat about a new course of action for public transportation and also evolve a way of instilling discipline, good driving culture and sanity to the teeming motoring public.

While seeking the full cooperation of all the participants, Tiamiyu averred that the training would give the entire LASDRI workforce the avenue to engage one another and brainstorm ideas and plans aimed at redefining public transportation in Lagos State.

The facilitators took participants on various topics including “Human Relations and Social Skills”, “Effective Tools for Learning”, “Business Model as a Solution to Revenue Drive for Lagos State Drivers’ Institute”, “Presentation Design as a Tool for Effective Teaching Aid” and “Vehicle Dynamics and Defensive Driving”, among others.
