LASCODA appreciates SSG for support on coconut initiative

The Lagos State Coconut Development Authority (LASCODA), has appreciated the Secretary to the State Government, Mrs. Folashade Jaji, for her immense contributions to the present administration’s coconut renewal initiative with the presentation of a Customized Coconut-Shell Portrait.

The Lagos State Coconut Development Authority (LASCODA), has appreciated the Secretary to the State Government, Mrs. Folashade Jaji, for her immense contributions to the present administration’s coconut renewal initiative with the presentation of a Customized Coconut-Shell Portrait.

Receiving the gift from the General Manager of LASCODA, Mr. Dapo Olakulehin on Wednesday at her office in Ikeja, Mrs. Jaji expressed sincere appreciation to the Agency for the thoughtfulness, stressing that the gift is very unique and timely in view of the prevailing atmosphere of festivities.

She explained that the coconut renewal initiative of the Lagos State Government is vital in view of the fact that Coconut is a common crop in Lagos State with numerous commercial importance, as such it is a money-spinner for the small and medium entrepreneurs in the State.

While noting that a coconut tree can yield as much as 200 fruits within a year as long as it is well nurtured from the point of planting, the SSG advised Lagosians to embrace the cultivation of coconut trees to benefit from its economic and nutritional value.

Earlier, the General Manager, LASCODA, Mr. Dapo Olakulehin, stated that the SSG was being appreciated for her support towards making the Coconut Value Chain align with the State government’s vision of Making Lagos a 21st Century Economy.

He described Mrs. Jaji as an astute administrator, as well as a Coconut processor, who has been active in participating and promoting all coconut development activities in Lagos State including the production of Processed Coconut fruits such as Coconut flakes and Flour among others.

“Being a practising Coconut Processor herself, she was instrumental to the formation of the Association of Lagos State Coconut Processors (ALSCOP). The Association has, within two years of its formation, afforded members to come together in sourcing of inputs, credits and markets that have resulted in an increase in productivity as well as wealth creation and employment generation across the State”, Olakulehin said.
