The Lagos X Paris Fashion Show, organised to celebrate the Honourable Commissioner for Tourism, Arts, and Culture, Mrs. Toke Benson-Awoyinka, spotlighted the exceptional talents of young Nigerian designers who recently returned from Paris after honing their craft in one of the world’s fashion capitals.

These emerging designers, trained over the last two years, are now positioned to compete globally and contribute to Lagos State’s burgeoning creative economy.

The event, held on Thursday at the prestigious Miliki Lounge, Etim Inyang Crescent, Victoria Island, Lagos, brought together stakeholders from the fashion and creative industries, government representatives, and international partners.

Speaking at the occasion, Mrs. Toke Benson-Awoyinka expressed her pride in the achievements of the designers and commended their dedication to excellence. “What we have witnessed here tonight is a testament to the transformative power of creativity and opportunity. In just a year, these young Nigerians have evolved into world-class designers whose work can rival the best on the global stage. This is a proud moment for Lagos State”, she stated

The Honourable Commissioner further emphasised that the Sanwo-Olu administration’s strategic focus on the creative sector, particularly fashion and music, is a pivotal economic driver for Lagos’ teeming youth population.

She assured attendees of the state government’s commitment to deepening collaborations with the French Government and other international partners. “We are determined to expand the scope of this partnership to ensure that more of our young talents gain access to global platforms and opportunities”, she added.

Mrs. Benson-Awoyinka also applauded the French Government and the French Ambassador to Nigeria for their invaluable role in supporting Lagos State’s vision for the creative industry. She remarked that such collaborations reflect the shared goal of empowering young Nigerians while promoting cultural exchange and mutual understanding.

In his remarks, the French Ambassador to Nigeria, Marc Fonbaustier, shared the journey of nurturing the showcased talents. He highlighted France’s commitment to fostering partnerships that enhance Nigeria’s creative ecosystem and reiterated the readiness of the French Government to support Lagos State’s efforts in creating opportunities for its youth. “The results we see today are the fruit of a shared vision, and we are eager to build on this success in the years to come”, he stated.

The Lagos X Paris Fashion Show featured stunning collections inspired by African heritage, contemporary global trends, and the designers’ unique perspectives.

Guests were treated to an unforgettable evening that celebrated innovation, artistry, and the potential of Lagos State as a hub for creativity and culture.

The groundbreaking initiative aligns with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s administration’s T.H.E.M.E.S Plus Agenda, particularly its focus on entertainment and tourism as pillars of economic growth and youth empowerment.

The Lagos State Government remains committed to supporting initiatives that showcase the best of Lagos’ talents and position the state as a leader in the global creative economy.
