The Executive Secretary of the Lagos State Film and Video Censors Board (LSFVCB), Mrs. Adebukola Agbaminoja has said that Lagos State is a filming hub in Nigeria with the establishment of a Film City to cater to the different genres in the film industry.

She stated this at the maiden edition of the African Indigenous Languages Film Festival, tagged “Ailff’ 23” held in Lagos.

According to her, the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Olusola Babajide Sanwo-Olu is passionate about the film industry which makes it possible for the establishment of a Film City.

In welcoming the participants of filmmakers, producers and distributors among others to Lagos, Agbaminoja posited that the festival is aimed at preserving the African Indigenous Languages and Values through films while seeking solutions to the twin challenges of distribution and the monetization of African content.

She added that it has been a major concern for filmmakers to reap the fruits of their labour because of the different chains of distribution of films without corresponding rewards and their inability to get value in monetary terms for their creative works.

The coming together of stakeholders at this point, she opined, is to deliberate on the way forward for a better reward. It is essential and good for the industry if the resolutions at the event will be put to positive use for the growth of the industry.

Earlier, in his remark, the organiser of the festival, Mr. Osezua Stephen – Imobhio said the festival is a journey to the path of self-discovery and self-identity which consequently will lead to self-consciousness and appreciation as individuals and African Filmmakers.
