Lagos State Government Office of Civic Engagement Collaborates with Ikoyi-Obalende LCDA on Mother, infant and child health

The Lagos State Government in pursuant with one of the Cardinal points of “THEMES”, the 6-Point Agenda of Mr. Governor recognised the importance of Local Government being the closest tier of government to the citizens at the grassroots has collaborated with Ikoyi-Obalende LCDA on a special health intervention on Mother, Infant and Child health care.

The Lagos State Government in pursuant with one of the Cardinal points of “THEMES”, the 6-Point Agenda of Mr. Governor recognised the importance of Local Government being the closest tier of government to the citizens at the grassroots has collaborated with Ikoyi-Obalende LCDA on a special health intervention on Mother, Infant and Child health care.

The Special Adviser to the Governor, Office of Civic Engagement, Hon. Aderemi Adebowale,   ably represented by Mrs. Olufunke Ayoola made it known that the programme is basically for the expectant mothers and their babies.

According to her, to this is the 3rd phase of a programme that was designed in phases having successfully implemented the 1st and 2nd phases which were used to test run the programme.

Mrs. Olufunke Ayoola advised that the pregnant women should take their balanced-diet for proper growth and proper development of well funcrioning brains of the unborn babies. To achieve this, the government is set to  distribute food package and vitamins supplements for the expectant mothers from 4 months till delivery. She also advised all  the present expectant mothers to learn one or two skills in which the Women Affairs and poverty Alleviation Officer(WAPA) will enrol and train them for free. According to her, there would be free medical treatment and insurance for the expectant mothers.

Dr. Eniola Erinoso from the Civic Engagement buttressed the balanced-diet points of Mrs. Ayoola. He read out all what the food packages contained and also advised the expectant mothers to eat well for the formation of their unborn-babies.
