The Director-General of the Tinubu/Shettima and Sanwo-Olu/Hamzat Independent Campaign Council in Lagos State, Mr. Tayo Ayinde, has described the standard bearers as the best for the polls.
I will be fair, just to all Nigerians – Tinubu

The Director-General of the Tinubu/Shettima and Sanwo-Olu/Hamzat Independent Campaign Council in Lagos State, Mr. Tayo Ayinde, has described the standard bearers as the best for the polls.

He said the state should be mobilised to give five million votes to the National Leader and Presidential Campaign Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu in next month’s election.

He spoke at the inaugural meeting of the committee in Ikeja, urging the members to girds their loins for a vibrant and result-oriented campaign.

Ayinde, Chief of Staff to Sanwo-Olu, said the council should through imbibe team work, articulate strategies and tactics, and carry out a data-driven campaign that will lead to victory.

He said:”The APC, no doubt, has the pedigree of incomparable electoral success in Lagos State, being the home of progressive ideals in Nigeria. “The electoral successes have also been matched with trail-blazing proactive governance for the common good of the majority of the residents and visiting citizens, since 1999.

“Besides, Lagos is the home base of our leader, the National Leader of our party, the Pathfinder of Modern Lagos and the Presidential Candidate of the APC, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.”

Urging the committee not to take anything for granted, because democracy is a game of numbers, Ayinde added:” The demographics have changed, the electoral rules have changed and the stakes are higher, because the interests and desperation of the competition have been aggravated. Therefore, we must not rest on our oars.”

The Director-General said the messages of ‘Awa lo kan’ and ‘a greater Lagos rising’ should be taken to the nooks and crannies of Lagos to win support.

He stressed:”We must mobilize the young and the old; men and women; professionals, artisans, students; market men and women; etc, behind the Tinubu/Shettima and the Sanwo-Olu/Hamzat tickets.

“Our campaign must be robust, enlightening, issues-based and focussed on competence, pedigree, the need for structural continuity and public trust.”

Ayinde described APC products as, not only good, but the the best, adding that they can be sold to the electorate by their manifestos.

He said what the onus is on the committee “to soft-sell our candidates to Lagosians by highlighting their competences and promises.”

Ayinde added: “We must also continuously debunk and dispel the lies, falsehoods and negative inuendoes of the opposition parties, whose strategy is to deceive innocent and undiscerning citizens.

“Many voters are new and siting on the fence. They may not have attended the rallies to have first hand information. So, it is your responsibilities to fish them out. It is your responsibility to use the existing successes of the APC incumbent and past governors to sell your candidates.

“We must remember there is a big gap to fill between our existing electoral results and the current target. There is a big gap between the previous data of registered voters/ active voters and the current equivalents.

“The expectation is that we run a data-driven campaign to identify who and where the gap is and who and how we bridge the gap! We must assign, record and review our activities to ensure everything is covered!

“As you hit the ground running, I charge you to give this assignment your very best and ensure that we deliver nothing less than five million votes for Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the Presidential election and Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu in the Gubernatorial election. This is our target and your objective, which I believe you are more than capable to deliver.”
