A 74-year-old man has been detained by the Lagos State Police Command over allegations of defiling his neighbour’s 13-year-old daughter in the Iju area of the state.

A 74-year-old man has been detained by the Lagos State Police Command over allegations of defiling his neighbour’s 13-year-old daughter in the Iju area of the state.

The shocking incident, which has sparked outrage in the community, was confirmed by the command’s spokesperson, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, during a press briefing on Saturday.

According to Hundeyin, the minor’s father reported the disturbing case to the Iju Police Division on Thursday, March 13, around 5:00 p.m.“The suspect allegedly defiled his neighbour’s daughter in his room,” Hundeyin revealed.

Following the report, a team of detectives swiftly moved to the scene, securing evidence and ensuring the victim received urgent medical attention.

“The girl was taken to the hospital for examination and treatment, while the suspect was immediately detained,” Hundeyin stated.

The police assured that a thorough investigation is underway, with Hundeyin confirming that “the suspect would be arraigned at the end of the investigation.”

Meanwhile, residents of Iju have called for swift justice, demanding that the full weight of the law be applied to the suspect if found guilty.
