The hoodlums were said to have killed a man on Sunday in the Kosofe Local Government Area of Lagos State, a situation that caused panic among residents of the area.

Lagos Panorama gathered that the victim – Sulaimon Onaolapo – popularly known as Akiru, was the Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW).

Police Public Relations Officer of the Lagos Command, Benjamin Hundeyin, told Channels Television that a detachment of the police Rapid Response Officers led by its Commander, Yinka Egbeyemi has been deployed to the area to restore peace.

Hundeyin said no suspect has been arrested, adding that the State Police Command, in collaboration with other security agencies, has deployed operatives for adequate security of lives and property.

The police spokesman also confirmed that one person was killed but kept mum on the identity of the victims.

Pictures circulating on social media showed the victim’s corpse lying on the ground in a pool of blood with pieces of wood beside it. The clash was confirmed by the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Lagos State on New Media, Jibril Gawat, on Twitter.

“YES. But Security Agents are fully on top of the matter. Cult Clash. One Suleiman Lawal aka “Ariku” was hit,” he tweeted.
