The Lagos State Government is making moves to establish the state-owned correctional facility formerly known as prison.

As part of measures to actualise the project, the Lagos State House of Assembly today held a Public Hearing on the Lagos State Correctional Service Bill, 2025.

This is a bill for a law to establish the Lagos State Correctional Service, to make provision for the administration of custodial and Non- custodial measures in Lagos State and for connected purposes.

This, according to experts, will help a great deal to decongest prisons and also turn prisons to real correctional centres where inmates truly go through transformation that will prepare them for life after custody and contribute meaningfully to society.
