Lagos LG chair denies anti-Tinubu move

The Chairman of Agboyi-Ketu Local Council Development Area of Lagos State, Dele Oshinowo, has denied a report suggesting that he was threatening the 2027 re-election bid of President Bola Tinubu, describing it as a fabrication devoid of truth or decency.

The Chairman of Agboyi-Ketu Local Council Development Area of Lagos State, Dele Oshinowo, has denied a report suggesting that he was threatening the 2027 re-election bid of President Bola Tinubu, describing it as a fabrication devoid of truth or decency.

There were reports alleging that Oshinowo’s aides were threatening not to support Tinubu’s second term bid if the council boss was not given the chairmanship ticket, a stance some APC members considered as their principal’s view.

However, in a statement issued by his Principal Assistant and Media Executive, Abideen Olamilekan, the council boss said the claim was not only baseless but also laughable, noting that it contradicted his unwavering loyalty to Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress.

Oshinowo said his political journey had always been based on merit and dedication to service, not imposition or disloyalty.

Reacting to claims that comments made by one of his aides represent his views, the chairman distanced himself, saying such comments should not be misconstrued as his position.

He reaffirmed his commitment to the supremacy of the APC and its internal structures.

“The social media comments of any aide do not, in any form, represent the views of Dele Oshinowo. He understands the weight of leadership and would never lend his voice to reckless political grandstanding,” the statement read partly.

Addressing another allegation linking him with the demolition of Owode Onirin market and the ancient Odogun community, the chairman clarified that the matter was a land dispute between local residents and the Onikoro family, which the council has no hand in.

“In fact, Oshinowo has stood with the people of Owode Onirin, engaging with state and federal authorities to ensure justice and restoration,” the statement added.

The council chairman, who also serves as the Director of Outreach and Endorsement for the Grassroots Mobilisation for Tinubu (GMT) 2027 Re-election Project, reaffirmed his dedication to President Tinubu’s vision and re-election.

Oshinowo called on the public to disregard the false narrative, asserting that his commitment to the APC and President Tinubu remains unshaken.
