Lagos doctors call off strike

The Lagos state chapter of the Nigerian Medical Association has called off its strike. The sit-at-home order was given on Wednesday, over constant harassment of Health workers in the state, by the police.

Chairman of the association, Saliu Oseni says the decision was reached after several meetings for peaceful resolution of the situation.

The union, which ordered Lagos members to cease work indefinitely from Wednesday evening, said it had received assurances that doctors would be exempt from the curfew and would be allowed to move freely.

In a statement, the NMA Lagos branch said the industrial action “is hereby reversed and our members are hereby directed to resume work from 6 p.m. today”.
