The Lagos State Government has ramped up its efforts to reclaim and secure government-owned land along the Lekki Coastal Road with a targeted operation at the Okunde Bluewater Scheme.
Led by the Commissioner, Waterfront Development, Ekundayo Alebiosu, the operation focused on dismantling newly erected shanties and removing illegal occupants.
Alebiosu emphasized that this initiative is a continuation of a comprehensive clean-up effort that began last year, warning those attempting to rebuild unauthorized structures that swift enforcement will follow.
“We cleared this area late last year, and we will not tolerate any encroachments. These illegal structures not only pose environmental and security risks but also undermine the city’s development goals,” Alebiosu stated.
He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to developing the area into a world-class Bluewater Scheme and coastal road network.
The operation serves as a stern reminder that MWID will continue periodic enforcement to protect the integrity of the site and prevent future illegal settlements.
