Lagos CP visits family of teenager killed by stray bullet

Lagos Police Commissioner Hakeem Odumosu on Monday led members of the Command’s management team on a condolence visit to the family of 18-year-old Monsurat Ojuade, who was killed by a stray bullet at the weekend.

Lagos Police Commissioner Hakeem Odumosu on Monday led members of the Command’s management team on a condolence visit to the family of 18-year-old Monsurat Ojuade, who was killed by a stray bullet at the weekend.

Ojuade was hit by a bullet fired by Sergeant Samuel Philips of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) Panti at Ijesha, Surulere.

The Sergeant, who had since been detained, was part of a team from SCID on mission to arrest a robbery suspect at Ijesha.

According to a statement by spokesman, CSP Adekunle Ajisebutu, Odumosu expressed heartfelt condolences to the family on behalf of the Inspector-General of Police (IG) Usman Alkali Baba and officers and men of the state command.

Ajisebutu said the police boss who presented a condolence letter to the family, reassured them that justice would be served as the culprit was already facing Orderly Room trial.

“While expressing regret over the unfortunate incident, the CP prayed for the repose of Monsurat’s soul, and also prayed that God grant the bereaved family the fortitude to bear the great loss,” Ajisebutu said.
