The Police at the Zone 2 Command of the Nigeria Police, Onikan, Lagos, Southwest, Nigeria have arrested a Lagos-based businessman, Eze Egbuibe, 43, and charged him before the Igbosere Magistrates’ Court sitting at the Ebute Metta Magistrates’ Court, Lagos for allegedly forging documents to steal three empty containers valued at $9,660 and fled to sell them off.
Police alleged that the defendant allegedly forged the container terminal documents belonging to Kachcare Resources Limited and used them to steal three empty containers belonging to CMA Shipping Company located at Amuwo Odofin area of Lagos.
Also arrested and dragged to Court with Egbuibe was the alleged receiver of the stolen containers, Vincent Okosun, 46.
Police alleged that trouble started for the defendants when the first defendant stole the containers and sold them to the second defendant and escaped.
Police further alleged that following the incident, the management of CMA Shipping Company petitioned the Assistant Inspector General of Police, AIG in charge of Zone 2 Command, Lagos about the matter who swiftly directed his crack team to fish out the fleeing suspects.
The Police swung into action and arrested Egbuibe through tracking at a hideout in Lagos.
During investigation, Egbuibe allegedly led the Police to arrest the alleged receiver of the stolen properties, Okosun.
