The Lagos State House of Assembly has approved a comprehensive set of regulations and guidelines aimed at strengthening administrative procedures across all Local Governments and Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) in the state.

The approval, which came after robust deliberations at today’s plenary under the leadership of Speaker Rt. Hon. (Dr.) Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa, marks a major step toward improving transparency, accountability, and efficiency in local governance.

During the debate, Hon. Aro Moshood described the newly approved framework as “top-notch”, adding that it would position Lagos as a model for grassroots administration across Nigeria.

Hon. Kehinde Joseph, however, called for further clarification on the omission of the Chief of Staff’s role in the new guidelines, while Hon. Abiodun Orekoya emphasized the need to harmonize the number of supervisors with existing principal laws governing local councils.

Hon. Bonu Solomon also commended the inclusion of community policing provisions, noting that such measures would not only enhance local security but also create employment opportunities at the community level.

With this approval, the Lagos Assembly reinforces its commitment to effective local governance and sustainable development across the state’s 57 councils.
