The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has appealed to Nigerians to remain calm and united as the country contends with what it described as temporary national difficulties. In a statement issued on Thursday, the party maintained that the challenges currently facing the nation would be overcome.

The party said Nigeria had weathered severe economic and security disruptions in the past and expressed confidence that the current situation would not be different.

APC: TINUBU TAKING “DECISIVE SECURITY ACTIONS”

The statement highlighted recent federal measures aimed at strengthening national security, noting that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu had declared a state of emergency on security and approved the recruitment of 20,000 additional police personnel—bringing the total new intake under his administration to 50,000.

According to the APC, these actions represent a significant expansion of national security capacity and reflect the President’s commitment to stabilising the country.

SECURITY OPERATIONS ONGOING, SAYS PARTY

The Lagos APC claimed that ongoing security operations were yielding results, including rescue missions, disruption of criminal networks, and increased community collaboration with security agencies.

It further alleged that recent incidents of violence had exposed “saboteurs” attempting to destabilise the country, although it did not provide specific details.

OPPOSITION ACCUSED OF “FEARMONGERING”

The party criticised opposition figures, accusing them of amplifying insecurity and economic hardship in an attempt to discredit the government. It also alleged that some political actors were seeking foreign intervention by portraying Nigeria as unstable.

The statement insisted that President Tinubu remained fully engaged in managing the country’s security challenges and that the government would not allow external interference or attempts to undermine national sovereignty.

ECONOMIC PAINS “TRANSITIONAL”, APC SAYS

Addressing economic concerns, the Lagos APC described current hardships as the “pain of reform,” arguing that ongoing measures were aimed at dismantling entrenched corruption in subsidy management, foreign exchange operations, and other sectors.

The party maintained that early indicators showed improvements in agriculture, revenue generation, investment inflows, and industrial activity.

“THIS TOO SHALL PASS” — LAGOS APC

The statement concluded by urging Nigerians to remain steadfast, expressing confidence that the country would emerge stronger.

“We stand with President Tinubu and with Nigeria,” the party said, reiterating its view that alleged saboteurs seeking to destabilise the country would not succeed.

The statement was signed by the Lagos APC Publicity Secretary, Hon. Seye Oladejo, and dated November 28, 2025.
