LAGOS, September 9, 2026 — The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has fired the starting gun for its statewide campaign ahead of the 2027 Governorship and House of Assembly elections, with the party declaring its determination to consolidate its achievements and secure a fresh mandate from Lagosians.
Led by State Chairman Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, the APC is moving into full campaign mode after months of grassroots organisation and mobilisation, with its political machinery set to reach communities across the State’s 20 Local Government Areas and 37 LCDAs.
In a statement issued by Ayaba Omobola Akingbehin, SSA, Media & Publicity to the Lagos State APC Chairman, the party said the campaign would be anchored on continuity, consolidation, development and renewed progress, with its leadership and candidates expected to take their message directly to the electorate.
Ojelabi said the APC is approaching the elections with confidence, supported by a strong grassroots structure and a record of governance which, according to him, provides the party with a solid platform to seek another mandate.
He stressed that the forthcoming election is not merely about political contests, but about determining whether Lagos will sustain its current development trajectory.
The Chairman also reaffirmed the significance of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s political legacy in Lagos, describing his progressive political tradition as an important foundation of the State’s contemporary political and governance structure.
According to Ojelabi, the APC campaign will penetrate every layer of the State, with engagements planned across wards and communities, as well as with traditional rulers, professional groups, market associations, women, youths and other stakeholders.
«“From Alimosho to Epe, Badagry to Ikorodu, and Lagos Island to Ikeja, our mobilisation machinery will be fully activated to ensure that our message reaches every segment of Lagos,” he said.»
Ojelabi charged APC leaders and members to unite and take the campaign to the grassroots, insisting that the party’s objective is victory, not mere participation.
«“We are not campaigning merely to participate. We are campaigning to win and continue the work of building a stronger and more prosperous Lagos.”»
He called for discipline, unity and effective coordination among party members, noting that victory would depend on the collective efforts of the party structure from the State level down to individual wards and communities.
The APC Chairman also assured Lagos residents that the party would run an issue-driven campaign centred on the needs and aspirations of the people, while respecting democratic principles and the electoral laws.
He urged Lagosians who support continuity, stability, development and progressive governance to join the APC campaign and support the party at the polls.
As the statewide campaign machinery begins to roll, Ojelabi delivered a clear message to party faithful and supporters:
«“The work must continue. The gains must be protected. The mandate must be renewed.”»
