The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has declared its full alignment with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s New Year message, insisting that there will be no retreat from ongoing reforms and no distraction by what it described as “failed alternatives.”
In a statement issued on Thursday, the party said President Tinubu’s New Year address underscored the essence of leadership as the responsibility of making difficult but necessary decisions in the national interest, rather than seeking popularity or applause.
The Lagos APC noted that the President’s message reflected a clear understanding of Nigeria’s challenges and the courage required to confront them, stressing that the era of fiscal recklessness, economic escapism, and deceptive governance had come to an end. According to the party, the Renewed Hope Agenda represents a fundamental reset of the nation’s economic and governance framework, acknowledging that such reforms are often difficult but necessary.
The party expressed satisfaction that, despite what it termed the “orchestrated opposition” to government policies, the country is beginning to record measurable progress. It cited improving macroeconomic indicators, renewed investor confidence, increased infrastructure investments, and decisive actions on national security as early gains of the current administration.
The Lagos APC further stated that President Tinubu would not be intimidated or distracted by critics, whom it accused of contributing to Nigeria’s past challenges. It maintained that Nigerians had already rejected such voices at the polls.
Describing Lagos as the political and economic heartbeat of the country, the party said the state fully understands the demands and sacrifices associated with reform, having experienced similar processes in the past. It reaffirmed its commitment to defending and advancing the President’s New Year direction.
The party also urged Nigerians to remain focused and resolute, noting that national renewal requires discipline, patience, and collective sacrifice.
The statement was signed by the Lagos APC Spokesman, Mogaji (Hon.) Seye Oladejo, and dated January 1, 2026.
