The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed reports circulating on social media alleging that the party chairman was harassed or molested during a protest at the party secretariat.

In a statement issued by the Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to the APC Chairman, Lagos State, Mrs. Ayaba Omobola Akingbehin, the party clarified that the chairman was neither harassed nor present at the APC Secretariat when the incident occurred.

The party acknowledged the constitutional right of individuals to peacefully express their grievances through lawful means. However, it emphasized that all protests and demonstrations by party members and supporters must be conducted within the bounds of the law, while upholding public order, party discipline, and the collective interests of the APC.

The statement further noted that the party’s primary election process has been concluded and that established internal mechanisms are already in place to address complaints and grievances arising from the exercise. Aggrieved members were therefore encouraged to take advantage of these channels to seek redress in the spirit of fairness, unity, and party progress.

The APC also urged members, stakeholders, and supporters to remain calm, exercise restraint, and avoid actions or statements capable of escalating tensions or misrepresenting the facts surrounding the incident.

Reaffirming its commitment to transparency and due process, the party called on the public, party faithful, and the media to disregard misleading narratives and rely solely on information released through official APC communication channels.

The statement was signed by Mrs. Ayaba Omobola Akingbehin, Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to the APC Chairman, Lagos State.
