The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has strongly condemned what it described as a “dangerous and disgraceful trend” by some opposition figures allegedly promoting or celebrating the idea of a United States military intervention in Nigeria.
In a strongly worded statement signed by its Publicity Secretary, Hon. Seye Oladejo, the party accused a section of the opposition of engaging in “politically motivated treachery” following their defeat at the polls.
“To even daydream about a U.S. invasion of Nigeria is not only delusional — it is the height of treachery and emotional bankruptcy. This is what happens when desperation meets intellectual emptiness: people begin to flirt with national suicide,” the statement read.
“Only Traitors Wish for Foreign Boots on Home Soil”
The Lagos APC maintained that any Nigerian who supports or amplifies the idea of foreign military intervention cannot be regarded as a patriot.
“Any Nigerian who prays, whispers, types, retweets, or amplifies the fantasy of foreign military intervention is not an activist — they are traitors to the flag and enemies of the Republic,” Oladejo declared.
Opposition’s “International Smear Campaign” Bearing Rotten Fruits
The party further accused opposition elements of exporting misinformation and falsehoods abroad, saying such actions are now manifesting as foreign misperceptions about Nigeria.
“Unable to convince Nigerians at home, they exported their bitterness abroad — peddling falsehoods and doomsday narratives simply to clap back over their political failures,” the statement added.
“You cannot blackmail your way to power through slander, hysteria, and foreign sympathy. Nigeria will not collapse to massage anyone’s defeated ego.”
“No Foreign Army Comes to Save — They Come to Control”
The APC warned Nigerians against falling for deceptive narratives that portray foreign military intervention as a path to freedom.
“Those romanticizing American jets flying over Lagos should take a tour of Iraq, Libya, and Afghanistan. A U.S. invasion doesn’t bring democracy — it brings devastation, disintegration, and domination,” Oladejo said.
He added that some opposition voices have become “obsessed with destruction rather than democracy,” describing their behavior as “weaponized bitterness masquerading as activism.”
“Nigeria Will Never Surrender Its Sovereignty”
The Lagos APC reiterated its confidence in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s leadership, commending his administration’s ongoing reforms aimed at stabilizing the economy, restoring security, and improving governance.
“We will not trade our flag for foreign boots. We will not exchange our destiny for pity from outsiders. Nigeria will rise — not with foreign bombs, but with Nigerian courage, leadership, and vision,” Oladejo asserted.
He concluded by saying history will remember those who build the nation — not those who sought to destroy it out of political frustration.
“This nation will survive them, outlast them, and remember them only as cautionary tales of failed ambition and destructive bitterness,” the statement concluded.
